New Delhi, June 2

The Delhi Police busted a fake call centre operating from the basement of a Noida building and arrested eight people allegedly involved in a credit card scam.

The accused were identified as Vikas, 28, and Kundan Singh, 31, along with Divyam, 22. They were running the racket with five women.

The case came to light on March 22, when a complainant approached the Cyber Police Station (Outer), claiming that he was defrauded of Rs 6,000 after he got a call from people claiming that they could boost his credit card limit.

The telemarketers contacted individuals over the phone under the pretext of increasing their credit card limits, subsequently sending them a malicious link to collect their account details.

The police have also seized 24 mobile phones and a diary with a log of Rs 6.5 crore of defrauded transactions, officials added.
