Delhi Police Cyber Crime Unit held a Twitter live 'Ask Me Anything' interaction with netizens

The Delhi Police Cyber Crime Unit held a Twitter interaction with citizens, ' Ask Me Anything'.
KPS Malhotra (DCP/Cyber Crime Unit- IFSO) held the session focusing on cyber safety and crime.
This is the third edition of the programme on COVID related queries and Emergency helpline number 112, as part of the vision and directions of Delhi CP Rakesh Asthana to strengthen the Police-Public Partnership and create awareness about important issues with the use of Social Media Platforms.
DCP Malhotra started the session with a brief introduction about cyber crime, safety precautions and the nature of work and functional domain of the newly established Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) and Cyber Crime Unit of Delhi Police.
More than 1500 Twitter users participated in the live session, which was watched by about 4000 viewers till now.
He answered the query related to problem of impersonation of public figures and agencies on digital platforms to dupe the gullible citizens and to be aware about such frauds and to report immediately to law enforcement agencies so as to trace the culprits.
While talking about precautions on sharing private data, he cautioned the netizens not to share any such important credentials with any unauthorised person.
He discussed about the various details to be shared with law enforcement agencies by a victim of cyber crime.
He emphasized about the online helpline number 155260 to report cases of online cheating and fraud and the need to immediately report such crimes within the "Golden Hour" so as to stop the money from being taken out of the financial system.
One Twitter user asked about the "Bulli Bai Case" and the safety of women on the internet against online stalking and harassment.
To this DCP Malhotra replied that Delhi Police with sincere efforts and indepth investigation, worked out the said case and arrested the culprits. He stressed about the need for a safe usage of the internet and to practice a secure net activity while browsing the internet in order to avoid any kind of data breach. He appealed to immediately inform the law enforcement authorities through helpline number or the portal www.cybercrime.gov.in to report instances of stalking, harassment or any other cyber related complaints.
He also handled questions related to Cyber bullying and trolling and suggested means to report such acts to enforcement agencies.
He took queries related to hacking of online messaging platforms and fake websites and the precautions to be taken to avoid such fraudulent attempts like using two factor authentication, checking the https & SSL certification, apart from immediately bringing it to the notice of Cyber Crime Unit.
Importantly, ️he also clarified the issues related to women while reporting cyber crime & maintaining anonymity as also issues related to vulgar/obscene content on Internet.
The officer further discussed the challenges and concerns related to dark web and such platforms being increasingly used for illegal activities like drug trafficking, arms smuggling, human trafficking & terrorist activities.
On queries related to Crypto currency and it's legality, he clarified that such investments through legal channels are authorised, though cryptocurrencies are also being used to dupe investors on the pretext of high returns as also used in money laundering and illegal sale/purchase.
He took queries related to the menace of illegal call centres involved in cheating domestic & international citizens and the continous action being taken by Delhi Police against them while stressing out the fact that such activities also bring a bad name for the country.
