Delhi Police EOW arrested former naval officer and a hotelier for alleged fraud of over Rs. 27 crores

The duo were identified as Pavan Sarin (69)

Som Vihar, RK Puram, a former naval officer. 

and Deepak Sarin (71) of Sarvodya Enclave New Delhi who is a hotelier. The accused have been booked under Section  420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.

DCP EOW Mohd Ali stated that the accused persons hatched a well planned conspiracy and they lured the complainant that they will execute the sale deed further after death of Late Mrs. Prem Kampani claiming themselves to be legal heir. 

As per the case details, the complainant alleged that in September 2013, he and his partner entered into agreement to sell with respect to property bearing No. 147, Block No.48 (New No. 90)Malcha Marg, Diplomatic Enclave with its owner Mrs Prem Kampani. The total sale price consideration for the abovementioned property was fixed at Rs 27 Crores and the complainant along with his partner has paid Rs 2.7 Crores through banking channel to Late Mrs Prem Kampani. The accused is one of the witness to agreement to sell dated September 14, 2013.

The officials further said that as per the agreement Mrs. Prem Kampani was required to get the property converted from leasehold to freehold but unfortunately before she could execute the sale, Mrs .Prem Kampani died in January 2014. After the death of Late Mrs. Prem Kampani accused persons created and manufactured a forged and fabricated will, dated August 11, 2005 and accepted payment of Rs 1.40 crores on basis of forged will claiming to be the legal heir of Late Mrs. Prem Kampani.

Talking about the probe, the EOW stated that during investigation, the alleged unregistered will was seized and taken into police possession through seizure memo. Thereafter the genuine admitted signatures of Late Mrs. Prem Kampani whose will was used by alleged were procured and sent to FSL. As per FSL result the signatures of Late Mrs. Prem Kampani were found to be forged on the will The alleged accused are beneficiary in this said forged will.

The officials said the alleged had claimed to be legal heirs of Late Mrs. Prem Kampani and told complainant that they will execute the sale deed. The alleged used forged unregistered will of Late Mrs. Prem Kampani.

The accused had filed anticipatory bail before Hon’ble Court to evade their arrest. They were formally arrested in EOW office during investigation in compliance of Court order passed by the Patiala House Courts. The EOW is further investigating the case.
