The Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava in meeting with senior officers of Delhi Police has decided to extend the Covid helpline services. The helpline will now take complaints lf ambulance overcharging, black marketing of Covid medicines and more.
The decision was taken in view of several reports of overcharging by ambulances to transport covid patients to hospitals and cheating being done by unscrupulous elements in the name of providing life saving drugs and injections for Covid treatment, besides blackmarketing.
The Covid helpline 01123469900 was launched on the eve of Delhi lockdown to facilitate movement by exempted categories goods and services will now help citizens who are being harassed and cheated during such tough times.
The complaints on Covid medicines blackmarketing, harassment at cremation grounds, cheating and frauds committed in name of providing covid treatment medicines and injections, oxygen cylinders etc. can be reported on the helpline. The victims and informants about fake medicines and injections being sold to needy people as genuine life saving drugs which the Delhi Police crime branch busted a day ago, can also call on the helpline, the officials added.
In addition to that, complaints can also be made on black marketing and hoarding of essential medicines and equipment used in covid treatment and care and critical items like medical oxygen etc.
The officials further said that citizens can also call on this helpline to report about other malpractices that may be happening by unscrupulous elements taking advantage of the distress faced by people in the current covid emergency situation.
