Delhi Police IFSO unit lodges case in Rashmika Mandana deep fake video incident

New Delhi, November 13
The Delhi Police Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit has lodged a case of forgery in connection with the alleged AI-based deepfake video being circulated online which purportedly shows actress Rashmika Mandanna.
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) had sent a notice to Delhi Police to register a case and probe the deep fake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna. The video had gone viral where mandanna was seen entering a lift. However, the video belonged to an influencer.
The cybercrime unit has begun a technical analysis and have also sought details from Meta and other social media platforms to identify the accused.
The IFSO unit had registered an FIR under Sections 465 (Punishment for forgery) and 469 (Forgery for purpose of harming reputation) of the IPC and Sections 66 and 66E of the IT Act .
