Delhi Police in North District provide oxygen cylinders to hospitals

New Delhi, April 20

The Delhi Police North District received a distress call at around 4:30 pm from NKS Super Specialty Hospital in GulabiBagh. It was learnt that 130 patients including 102 patients suffering from COVID-19 are admitted in the hospital and the hospital has run out of the oxygen supply. 

The hospital authorities had tried to make the shortage of oxygen good but all their efforts got drained out, as the oxygen cylinderswere not available.On hearing the information about draining of oxygen supply, the relatives of the patients started agitating in the hospital. 

The situation was taking untoward turn. In order to control the situation and calm the sentiments of the agitators, the senior police officers took charge of the situation and tried to pacify the citizens. DCP North Anto Alphonse gave personal assurance to the relatives of the patients to make the shortage of oxygen good in least possible time.  

The local police liasoned with the oxygen supplier of Maya Puri area and along with staff rushed to the oxygen dealer in Maya Puri area where oxygen cylinders were being filled and 53 cylinders were sent by NKS hospital for refilling, at around 5:17 PM. Considering the gravity of the situation, North District team reached Mayapuri at around 5:37 PM. Got the filled oxygen cylinders, and reached back to the hospital at around 6:08 PM. 

The police team escorted the vehicle carrying 15 Oxygen cylinders to NKS Super speciality hospital, providing a safe and fast passage by making green corridor and delivered to the same to hospital in the nick of time.

15 more cylinders were also arranged from Moti Nagar area and rest of the 53 cylinder were delivered to NKS hospital an hour later.
