Delhi Police launch 'Samagra’, a Juvenile Empowerment and Transformation Programme

The program includes key interventions such as health assessments, counseling, vocational training, life skill workshop, recreation and mentorship

n a major step toward addressing juvenile delinquency and drug abuse, the South District Police has taken a proactive step towards combating juvenile delinquency and drug abuse with the launch of the ‘Samagra’, a Juvenile Empowerment and Transformation Programme. 

Special CP (L&O), Madhup Tewari  graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside 150 youth participants and their families along with key stakeholders from the community. 

The officials said that this unique initiative aims to empower and transform juveniles at-risk of delinquency by offering a customized, individual-centered interventions to meet the specific needs of each participant. This includes medical check-ups, emotional well-being, counseling, life-skill and vocational training. 

The program is a collaborative effort between Delhi Police and key partners such as the Ladli Foundation Trust, IHBAS (Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences), and IACT. Together, the aim to provide a holistic approach to juvenile transformation, focusing on emotional well-being, physical health, skill development, and community reintegration.

In his address, Madhup Tewari underscored the importance of channeling the energy of youth into positive activities, stating, "This program is not just about reforming behavior; it is about empowering young minds to contribute to nation-building. By providing our youth with the right guidance and opportunities, we are investing in the future of our country." He expressed gratitude to the community partners for their vital role in making this initiative a reality.

Jt CP Southern Range,  K Jain elaborated on the program's goals, emphasizing a reformative approach that addresses the root causes of juvenile delinquency. He highlighted the need for life skills and vocational training to empower the youth.

The program includes key interventions such as health assessments, counseling, vocational training, life skill workshop, recreation and mentorship. Additionally, it will engage participants in activities like sports, art therapy, yoga, and motivational sessions with real-life role models to foster confidence and self-reliance.
