Delhi Police New Delhi District crackdown on hotels, markets and eateries for violating Covid 19 rules

New Delhi, April 4

Delhi Police New Delhi District challaned persons at high end hotels in Chanakyapuri, market areas of Khan Market and popular eateries for not maintaining Covid 19 appropriate behaviour.

Addtional DCP (New Delhi) Vikas Kumar stated that as Covid cases are on rise, it is imperative upon persons visiting market and other public places as well as owners of shops, hotels, restaurants etc. to ensure the compliance of Covid appropriate behavior.

In order to ensure the compliance of Covid appropriate behavior and SOP issued by Govt. of India and DDMA at public places, a special drive was carried out at markets, hotels and other public places of high footfall in the area of New Delhi District from last two days and following actions were taken under provisions of Indian Penal Code and Epidemic Diseases Act.
The New Delhi District charged several high end hotels and popular eateries for violation of Covid 19 norms.

The police registered FIR against Jain Chawal Wala for not observing appropriate behaviour at his shop. Similar charges were levied on Informal restuarant at Janpath and Classic Chicken at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg and Classic Chiken Corner Kalina at Gole Market.

The police said nine persons were challaned for Rs. 2,000/-  each for allegedly not wearing mask in Khan Market area. Three persons were challaned for Rs. 2,000/- each for not wearing face mask at Ashoka Hotel in Chanakya Puri.

The police stated that the special drive against violators of Covid 19 norms will continue in each district and unit of Delhi Police.
