Delhi Police step up vigil at majr toursit spots, key monuments and areas

New Delhi, May 10

The Delhi Police have stepped up security across major monuments and historical places in Delhi following the situation escalating between India and Pakistan. 

The police have increased the deployment of police personnel at major tourist attractions like Qutub Minar, India Gate, Lal Quila and Lotus Temple alongwith personnel from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The officials said that at India Gate, attempts are being made for minimal crowd formation to maintain law and order. 

In North Delhi, a police officer said extra patrolling has been deployed across vital installations, with a battalion of CISF and district police personnel stepping up vigil around Lal Quila, Metro stations, and major markets in the area.

The paramilitary commandos and SWAT teams have been deployed in key areas of the New Delhi district, and police personnel in other districts, to conduct extra security checks.

All Deputy Commissioners of Police have been asked to be on alert and hold mock drill exercises in coordination with the Civil Defence, Delhi Fire Services (DFS), and other government authorities.

To ensure public safety measures across the district, Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) conducted drills in congested areas in the Capital. 

The Delhi Police headquarters also issued an order stating that no leaves would be granted to its officers till further directions.
