ED raids in Kolkata in RG Kar Medical College financial irregularities case

Search operations at multiple locations in West Bengal's Howrah, Sonarpur and Hooghly : ED

The Enforcement Directorate (ED carried out search operations at multiple locations in West Bengal's Howrah, Sonarpur and Hooghly in the RG Kr Medical college financial irregularities case. 

 

In August this year, a 31-year-oldvtrainee doctor was raped and brutally murdered inside the hospital triggering nationwide protests.

 

The agency raided premises of a relative of RG Kar Medical Centre and Hospital's ex- principal, Dr Sandip Ghosh.

 

Last week, the central agency filed a case against alleged financial irregularities at the RG Kar Medical College. 

 

The case was registered on the basis of the CBI FIR, which named Dr Ghosh in connection with its probe into the doctor's murder.

 

In the FIR, the CBI has slapped criminal conspiracy, cheating, and dishonesty along with Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the financial misconduct at RG Kar Medical College. The cases account for cognisable offences and are non-bailable in nature.
