New Delhi, August 14
An engineering student in Agra was allegedly raped by a senior student from the same institute in a moving car. The girl was found abandoned by the roadside.
The police have launched a manhunt to trace the accused, who is currently on the run.
The accused student has been identified as Shivang Singh who studies in the same engineering college as the girl.
The girl later narrated the ordeal to police and stated that the accused, Shivang Singh, her senior from the same institution, wanted to meet her. When she reached to meet him, he allegedly forced her into his car in the Sikandra area on the evening of August 10.
The student alleged that the accused tied her hands inside the vehicle, drew a curtain to separate the back seat from the driver, and covered the car windows to prevent anyone from seeing inside. Despite her pleas and attempts to raise an alarm, the accused threatened to kill her and raped her. After committing the crime, he threw her out of the car and fled the scene.
The police have begun a probe and launched a manhunt to trace him. With the ongoing protest of doctors following the brutal rape-murder of Kolkata medic, the case of Agra has also led to protests in the city demanding arrest of the accused.
