Farmers attempt to march towards Delhi, Haryana police lobs tear gas shells

The Haryana government suspended the internet services in the areas which fall within the jurisdictions of the Ambala district

The Haryana police stopped the marching farmers who made a fresh attempt to march towards Delhi from Shambhu border poin  

The police resorted to lobbing tear gas and water cannons again.

The agitating farmers had made two attempts — on December 6 and 8 — that was controlled by police. A total of 22 farmers were then injured.

Thr order to suspend mobile internet in Dangdehri, Lehgarh, Manakpur, Dadiyana, Bari Ghel, Choti Ghel, Lharsa, Kalu Majra, Devi Nagar (Hira Nagar, Naresh Vihar), Saddopur, Sultanpur and Kakru villages in Ambala was issued to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order, the government notification added. 

The Ambala district administration has clamped a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) that bans the unlawful assembly of five or more people in the district  

The farmers' agitation, which began on February 13 at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders between Punjab and Haryana, is rooted in demands including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops.

 

The protest gained further urgency after Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a prominent farmer leader, began a fast-unto-death on November 26.
