Fire breaks out in Mayur Vihar, restaurant, school uniform shop gutted

DFS personnel rescued one man trapped in fire; one fire personnel was also injured during the rescue operation

New Delhi, July 15

A massive fire broke out at a commercial complex in Mayur Vihar phase 2 where a school uniform outlet and a restaurant were completely gutted. 

At least 25 fire tenders were rushed to the spot by the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) department as soon as they received the information. The firefighting operation was immediately launched and went on till July 15 morning. 

The DFS stated that they received the call at 11:40 pm. When the fire tenders reached the spot, the fire had spread to all three floors of the building. It spread as there was no proper ventilation. Around 25-30 shops are in the complex and 12-15 shops were affected. 

The DFS personnel rescued a 50-year-old man identified as Praveen Pandey. However, a firefighter was injured during the operation after he fell from the ladder while trying to douse the fire. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation has been launched into the incident, officials added.
