Gangster Ankit Gujjar found dead in Tihar Jail

New Delhi, August 4
Gangster Ankit Gujjar who was lodged in Tihar Jail for allegedly killing BJP leader Vijay Pandit outside his Dadri home in 2014, was found dead inside the Tihar jail complex on Wednesday morning.
The primary inquiry stated that he was allegedly beaten to death by four persons.
Gujjar's family alleged that he was beaten by jail authorities who were demanding Rs 10,000 from him as protection money however he had refused.
DG (Tihar) Sandeep Goel stated that Gujhar he was lodged in jail number 3. The Tihar jail administration has also initiated an inquiry into the incident.
The police stated that when they reached the Tihar Jail premises, they found Gujjar dead on a bed. Two of his cell inmates, Gurpreet and his brother Gurjeet were injured and taken to DDU Hospital.
The magistrate has initiated inquest proceedings. Action will be taken as per the inquest report and the post-mortem report, officials added.
Gujjar has a historysheet of 22 other cases, including eight cases of murder and extortion.
