Grenade lobbed at retd police officer's house in Chandigarh, two held

Rohan Masih, resident of village Passia has been identified as the main mastermind

A grenade was lobbed at the house of a retired police officer in Sector 10 area of Chandigarh. The Punjab police have arrested two persons while the third one remains at large. 

The accused was identified as Rohan Masih, resident of village Passia. The police had announced reward of Rs 2 lakhs each for the two suspects.

The police stated that in a joint operation with central agency, the case is solved with the nabbing of Rohan Masih. The further investigation to unravel the entire conspiracy is being done jointly in coordination with the Chandigarh Police. In the preliminary disclosure, Rohan admitted his role in the grenade blast at Chandigarh. 

The grenade attack took place at around 5.30 pm on Wednesday and due to the impact of the blast, windows and flower pots were damaged, police added.  

The police further informed that one 9MM Glock pistol along with ammunition had been recovered from the arrested person's possession.

As per the case details, three people arrived at the scene in an autorickshaw shortly before the explosion. A CCTV camera captured the moment when the explosion occurred. In the footage, an autorickshaw is seen speeding away, narrowly dodging a car from the opposite direction before making a swift turn.

The attackers had conducted surveillance of the house just two days before the grenade attack, police added.
