IPS officer's daughter found dead in hostel room of law university in Lucknow

New Delhi, September 2

A third-year law student and daughter of a senior IPS officer posted at the National Investigation Agency, was found dead in her hostel room in Lucknow. 

The victim was identified as Anika Rastogi (19) whose body was found lying on the floor of her hostel room at the Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow.

She was the daughter of IPS officer Santosh Rastogi, who is currently serving as Inspector General at the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi.

The police that rushed to the spot stated that Anika was found unconscious in her hostel room. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her brought dead. The cause of her death remains unclear so far. The police confirmed that the room was locked from the inside, and no suspicious items were discovered.

The police stated that in the primary questioning, the hostel staff and her hostel mates informed that Anika had retired to her room last night and did not respond to any calls or knocks afterward. Her friends, concerned by her silence, broke open the door to her room and found her lying unconscious. Her clothes were intact and there were no visible injuries on her body. 

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
