Kulwinder Kaur, CISF constable's family a strong part of farmers' protest

Kulwinder Kaur, the CISF constable's mother was a part of the farmers' protest, her brother a member of Kisan Mazdoor Sangarh Committee

New Delhi, June 7

The woman CISF constable who slapped Mandi Lok Sabha winner MP Kangana Ranaut made headlines when she not only challenged Ranaut's remarks but also allegedly slapped her at the Chandigarh Airport.

The young constable identified as Kulwinder Kaur (35), who is from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab, has been posted at Chandigarh Airport for the last two years.

The constable joined the CISF in 2009 and has been with the aviation security group of the force at the Chandigarh airport since 2021. Her husband is also a CISF personnel and posted at the Chandigarh airport.

The provocation behind the alleged slapping incident is believed to be Kangana’s controversial comments on Punjabi women who were part of the farmers' protest.

In a video purportedly showing the constable after the alleged incident, the woman can be heard saying her mother was also among the protesters and she questioned Ranaut on her remarks on women participating in the farmers' protest for mere Rs. 100 to Rs. 200.

Ranaut had made a controversial remark on the women during the farmers protest and later deleted the tweet after the backlash.

Kaur was upset and angry with Ranaut over her insulting remarks as her own mother was a part of the protests against the farm bills later withdrawn by the government. Her brother, Sher Singh, is a farmer leader and is the organisation secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee.

The video shows Kaur walking towards Ranaut when the later enters the airport and was on her way for the security check. After screaming at her, she slaps her.

Kaur has two kids and in past never had a single case of indiscipline or an inquiry before.
