Following an inquiry ordered by L-G V K Saxena, Delhi Police has directed senior officers of all 15 police districts to keep a lookout for suspicious “private” individuals collecting personal details of women on the pretext of enrolling them under the Mahila Samman Yojana ahead of the upcoming elections.
The L-G Secretariat also ordered a high-level inquiry has been ordered into the AAP Delhi government’s proposed Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana. Sandeep Dikshit, former Congress MP and the New Delhi Assembly seat candidate had filed a complaint that cash was being transferred, in crores, from various parts of Punjab to Delhi ahead of the upcoming assembly polls.
Principal Secretary of Delhi LG wrote to Chief Secretary, Delhi and Commissioner of Police, Delhi regarding announcements made by AAP to give every woman in Delhi (above the age of 18) an amount of Rs. 1000 per month, and enhancement of the amount to Rs 2100 per month, if elected back in the 2025 Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections.
The order read, "LG has desired that Chief Secretary to get an inquiry conducted through Divisional Commissioner in the matter of collection of personal details and forms by non-government people. Further, Commissioner of Police may direct the field officers to take action as per law against the person who are breaching the privacy of gullible citizens by collecting their personal details in garb of giving benefits," reads the letter.
