Lawrence Bishnoi gang kills NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder. The shooters fired at him outside Siddique's son's office in Mumbai's Bandra East. 

The police stared that three shooters were involved in the murder. Out of the three, two have been arrested who were identified as Gurmail Baljit Singh, 23, from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap, 19, from Uttar Pradesh - and the third has been identified as Shiv Kumar Gautam, also from UP. 

After the shooters were arrested within an hour and produced in court, accused Kashyap had claimed to be a minor. The magistrate court then ordered a bone ossification test, which is used to estimate a person's age by examining X-rays of certain bones in the body.

The police later arrested third shooter along with his brother Shubham Lonkar, who was a part of the murder conspiracy. The third shooter present with Gurmail and Kashyap, Shiv Kumar alias Shiva Gautam, is on the run. 

The police have also identified another accused, Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar, 21, who is allegedly the brain behind the murder.

During questioning, the shooters told the police that they belonged to the gang of notorious jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. One of the gang's alleged members posted a message on social media claiming responsibility for the murder, stating that the motive was the victim's connection to Bollywood star Salman Khan, whom the group has been targeting for a long time.

The suspects had been monitoring Siddique for months, conducting a recee of his residence and office. The police revealed that the suspects had been paid Rs 50,000 each in advance for the hit and that arms had been delivered to them only days before the assassination.

The Mumbai Police have also heightened the security around Salman Khan's residence in Bandra. Khan had close friendship with three time MLA Baba Siddique. Bishnoi had earlier fired at Khan's residence in April following which five were arrested.
