Low intensity blast reported at a police checkpoint in Punjab's Batala

Thr blast occured outside a police checkpoint; no casualties or injuries were reported

New Delhi, December 20

An alleged grenade attack was reported at a police checkpost building in Batala in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on December 18.

The police stated that it was a low-intensity blast in the Bakshiwala area of Kalanor at around 8 pm occurred at a checkpost. No casualties or injuries were reported. 

The blast however led a small truck catch fire. 

The “blast” occurred a day after an alleged explosion was reported at the Islamabad police station in Amritsar. It damaged the cemented sheets on the building’s roof and burned some wires.

On December 4, a powerful explosion occurred at the Majitha police station in Amritsar, shattering windows. Initially, police described the incident as a tyre burst; however, subsequent posts on social media suggested it was a grenade attack. 

On December 2, a grenade attack was reported at the Ansaro police post in Nawanshahr. The grenade did not detonate and was successfully defused. On November 29, An explosion was reported near a vacant police
