Maharashtra police arrests a couple for filing 30 applications to claim monetary benefits under the Ladki Bahin Yojana

The bank account linked to the 30 fraud applications was the same which belonged to accused Pratiksha

New Delhi, September 5

The Maharashtra Police have arrested a couple for fraudulently filing 30 applications to claim monetary benefits under the Ladki Bahin Yojana. 

The arrested persons have been identified as Pratiksha Popat Jadhav and her husband Ganesh Sanjay Ghadge.

The police stated that the couple submitted the 30 applications using different Aadhaar card numbers. However, the bank account linked to the 30 fraud applications was the same which belonged to Pratiksha.

The Satara district administration formed a three-member committee to probe the matter. The authorities found that the amount from the 30 applications were being deposited in the same account, following which the committee filed a report. 

The Eknath Shinde government presented the Mukhya Mantri Ladki Bahin Yojana while announcing the state budget in June. Under this scheme of the state government that provides Rs 1,500 to underprivileged women as a stipend per month with the annual family income of beneficiaries capped at Rs 2.5 lakhs.
