Maharashtra Police arrests two with car loaded with cash of Rs. 1.97 crores

The police had received a tip-off that a silver Ertiga car was headed to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and the vehicle had a large amount of cash

The Maharashtra Police have arrested two people in Buldhana district after Rs 1.97 crore in cash was found in the car.

The police had received a tip-off that a silver Ertiga car was headed to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and the vehicle had a large amount of cash. The police officer formed a team and blocked the road leading to Sambhaji Nagar. 

The car was stopped at a 'nakabandi' in Malkapur and taken to police station for a check. The police stated that they used a machine was used to count the cash recovered in the car, which totalled Rs 1.97 crore. 

The Income Tax Department in Nagpur was informed about the seizure through a letter as per protocol.

He said the Akola Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had been informed about the cash seizure and the detainees.
