Man from UP beaten to death allegedly for complaining about gamgling activities of his neighbour

Following the incident, the Buduan police suspended two sub-inspectors and a constable had been removed from their posts following failure to control activities in the area

New Delhi, November 12

A man has been beaten to death in Budaun of Uttar Pradesh allegedly for filing a police complaint against a neighbour exposing his alleged gambling activities.

The victim was identified as Deewakar Sahu (35) who used to work at a roadside dhaba.

The police claimed they arrested one Hari Om Yadav about a month ago after independently receiving a purported video showing him engaged in gambling. 

The police have arrested two- Sahil Sahu and a woman named Jaishree, in the murder case.

The police stated that the victim was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon and iron rod by Hari Om Sahu’s family members and associates while he was out buying vegetables. After he lost consciousness, the attackers allegedly left him on the road and fled. Deewakar was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment the next day.

Deewakar’s sister Karishma Sahu had informed that she had informed the police about the crime and provided the video herself.

Following the incident, the Buduan police suspended two sub-inspectors and a constable had been removed from their posts following failure to control activities in the area. SP Buduan has been asked to conduct a detailed probe in the incident, officials added.

 

The locals had also staged protests and blocked roads, demanding action against the accused. The protest was lifted only after the police assured strict action against the accused.
