Man opens fire from an apartment in Rohini while his family trapped inside, Delhi Police rushes in to overpower him

New Delhi, August 5

A high tension incident was witnessed in Rohini area of Delhi when a mentally and fincuallt disturbed businessman took a revolver in hand and allegedly began shooting continuously.

The panic-stricken residents near Bhagavan apartment in Sector 26, Rohini called the police control room for help. 

When the police reached the spot they and found one male aged 40-45 years standing in balcony in Flat 508, Bhagban Appartment and was carrying a CMP in injured condition. His hand was stained with blood. He fired two rounds in air and verbally abusing .

The police stated that he was identified as Vishal Suryavanshi. His  wife Bhavna and two childrens (one male and one female both aged 6-7 years. ) were in the flat at that point of time. 

The police called for back up police teams worrying about the lives of the woman and kids  a who were inside while firing was  on. The ambulance , FSL teams and all senior officers including DCP, ACP and other officers with staff rushed to the spot.

The police cordoned off the entire area and public was asked to move to safer distance.  The main gate was locked and people were not allowed to move closer to the place of incident. 

DCP Outer Rajeev Ranjan stated that Suryavanshi was continously engaged in talks and appeared extremely aggressive and abusive but the police kept their cool and while few staff were engaging him in talks. Six police personnel  including one women SI  entered into building from rooftop of adjacent building. The ground staff was continuously engaging  Vishal in talks and somehow  managed to get him throw his gun and bullets.


The police managed  to communicate with his wife Bhavana and convinced her to open the door of the  flat .The team theirafter entered the flat and overpowered Vishal. 


Vishal  was in a financial dispute with one  Praveen Sood ( r/o Mehrauli PS) in construction business matter. He had abused him once and even  showed pistol.

The police said that earlier a case under 386/506 IPC & 25 Arms Act was registered against him. He had to spend one month in jail. Vishal was in depression due to financial losses.   

Vishal was taken  to BSA hospital for treatment where doctors discharged him after treatment. 

The police have registered a case under 336 IPC & 25 and 27 of the Arms Act against Vishal for endangering lives, possession and reckless use of illegal arms. The police also booked him under section 309 IPC as one curtain was also found tied to fan likely to be used for hanging.

The police are further investigating the case.
