Man runs away with police's AK47 in Doda of J&K, police launch manhunt

The police are investigating any possible terror angles behind this

New Delhi, June 19

A man in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda went missing with an AK-47 rifle, which belonged to a police officer. The police launched a massive manhunt to trace him.

The unidentified man running away with a police personnel's rifle has taken place at the time when the valley is witnessing continuous terror attacks. 

The police are investigating any possible terror angles involved in the case. A group of three to four terrorists is present in the higher reaches of the district.

The police detained three persons including a couple for questioning in connection with the movement of terrorists involved in the recent attacks in Doda district.

On June 11, five soldiers from the Rashtriya Rifles and a special police officer (SPO) were injured when terrorists attacked a joint check post in the upper reaches of Chattergalla on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road.

On June 12, a police officer was injured when the terrorists opened fire on a search party in the Kota Top village in the Gandoh area of the district.
