MBA student attempted suicide in Delhi over blackmailing by friends

New Delhi, February 7

An MBA student in Delhi attempted to commit suicide who was allegedly being blackmailed by his friends. 

The incident took place in Southwest district where the 26-year-old student attempted suicide at his residence. He had reportedly consumed a toxic substance to take an extreme step, police added.

The police said his friends allegedly took his private photos without his consent and were trying to extort money from him. 

The victim had also left a suicide note which the police have collected from his room. 

The note stated, “Please tell police that I am not a liar… please punish them (accused) after my death.”

The police added that the victim was rushed to AIIMS, where he is undergoing treatment. 

According to the police, the family of the victim have expressed that their son was being harassed for months and the police didn’t act on his complaint. The family also told police that the accused had already collected Rs. two lakhs from their through blackmailing yet did not stop allegedly harassing him. 

The police have booked the accused for extortion among other charged under the IPC.
