The Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) awarded winners for sports in an attempt to boost sports talent among police families.

A total of 303 applications were received in different welfare Centres of PFWS.  A selection-cum-pre-trial process was conducted at NPL at Kingsway Camp on March 11 and 12 under the close watch of highly qualified games experts.

197 children had undergone the screening process.  After the trial process, a total number of 131 applicants were shortlisted by the selection committee after thorough scrutiny of the capabilities of the applicants.

PWFS has been running talent hunt in the sports category for selecting the capable police wards under the name and banner of ‘Mission Olympics’. Six sports disciplines are categorised for various competitions mainly athletics, badminton, football, kabaddi, shooting and wrestling.

The goal of the mission is to nurture sporting talent hidden amongst the wards and to excel and bring laurels for the country.
