New Delhi, May 2

The Madhya Preadesh Police arrests a teacher from Ujjain ashram for sexual abuse of minor boys at his ashram. The teacher is the same person who had come forward to aide the minor rape victim of Ujjain who had gone door to door seeking help in semi naked condition.

The Ujjain police have not only arrested the ashram teacher identified as Rahul sharma (21) but also one of his caretakers at the ashram identified as Ajay Thakur. The children from poor families were sent to be trained as pandits in this ashram, affiliated to the state Sanskrit board.

As per the case details, a minor boy who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Thakur complained to his mother when he returned home. The parents of the child came to the ashram. Then the ashram worker Many more parents visited the ashram and levelled allegations.  The ashram authorities contacted police after several parents made allegations against Sharma.

The police stated that three cases of sexual abuse of minor boys have come to the fore. There are many more victims in this case and police have tried to convince them to file a case.

In September 2023, a CCTV footage emerged of the minor girl, bleeding and partially clothed, after she was raped by an autorickshaw driver. The footage showed no one coming to her aid even as she walked around the area for an hour, with one resident even shooing her away. Sharma helped the girl after he spotted her outside the ashram and aided her.

The police were probing the rape case of the girl and after scanning over 200 CCTV cameras had found out that an auto rickshaw driver had raped her and he was subsequently arrested.  The police have ruled out any connection with the Ujjain rape case for now.

In connection with the sexual abuse of minor boys, the police have registered three FIRs under relevant provisions of the IPC as well as under multiple sections of the POCSO Act and sent them to judicial custody.
