Mumbai police arrests BMC structural engineer in billboard collapse case

The accused engineer was identified as Manoj Ramkrishna Sanghu of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)

The Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested a structural engineer for allegedly giving a stability certificate for the the billboard that collapsed on a fuel station in the city's Ghatkopar area, killing at least 17 people and injuring 74 others.

The accused engineer was identified as Manoj Ramkrishna Sanghu of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The Mumbai Police earlier arrested Bhavesh Bhinde, director of Ego Media, the advertising agency that installed the hoarding. 

After thew tragic collapse, the police had registered a case under IPC sections, including 304-2 (when there is knowledge that death may be caused by one’s act), 338 (endangering life or personal safety of other) and 34 (common intention), against directors and officials of Ego Media and other related persons.
