Mumbai Police EOW appoint a deputy Commissioner of Police to probe extortion charges on ED officials

New Delhi, March 10

The Mumbai Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has appointed a DCP-rank officer to conduct an enquiry into allegations of extortion made against Jitendra Navlani and ED officials.

Arvind Bhosle had filed a complaint alleging that extortion was made by Enforcement Directorate officials and Navlani.

The Mumbai Police handed over the case to the EOW and have deputed a DCP rank officer to conduct a detailed investigation.

The EOW will record statements of Navlani and others and also seek bank statements to verify the allegations made against them.

The officials have also called the complainant Bhonsle to give more details as he had mentioned the names of the ED officials in his complaint.

It is to be noted a letter making allegations that Navlani along with some ED officials were extorting money from several people had been submitted to the Mumbai Police Commissioner office. The letter was then marked to the EOW to conduct an enquiry into the matter.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said in a press conference that the Mumbai police was conducting enquiry against Navlani and a few ED officials.
