New Delhi, October 30
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) alongwith the Delhi Police Special Cell busted a narcotics haul and seized 95 kg of methamphetamine from a factory at Kasna industrial area in Noida. A warden of Tihar Jail and a member of a Mexican drug cartel, along with three others, have been arrested
The NCB identified the accused as Tihar Jail warden Naveen Mann (28), prime accused Amit Singh (36), who allegedly has links with Virendra Baisoya – the alleged kingpin of a Dubai-based drug cartel that had smuggled in 1,289 kg of cocaine in India in October, chemist Ravindra Parab (61) from Mumbai, Mexican national Gustavo (45) and a person named Amrish Puri (51).
The NCB stated that the factory was being used to manufacture drugs in partnership with Gustavo, a member of Mexican drug cartel Jalisco New Generation, also known as ‘CJNG’. Singh, a West Delhi-based businessman, who was previously arrested in a NDPS case, was held from the factory along with Mann on October 25. While Parab and Gustavo were arrested between October 25 and 26, Puri was later apprehended from Rajouri Garden.
The NCB said that chemicals like acetone, sodium hydroxide, methylene chloride, premium-grade ethanol, toluene, red phosphorus, ethyl acetate and imported machinery for manufacturing synthetic drugs were seized from the lab besides the drugs,
The officials added that the Amit Singh and Naveen Mann were instrumental in establishing the illegal factory, procuring chemicals required for manufacturing methamphetamine and also importing the machinery.”
Singh was previously arrested by Department of Revenue Intelligence in a NDPS case and had been lodged in Tihar Jail, where he came in contact with the warden Mann. He operates in West Delhi and his network is spread across Delhi-NCR. Mann and Singh roped in Parab, who was to oversee operations. The quality of the drug was tested by Gustavo.
