The NIA Arrested an absconding accused in the 2018 arms and ammunitions seizure case.
The accused was identified as Singhrai Soren (55) from Akbakitand village in Giridih district of Jharkhand.
The NIA stated that this case pertains to the seizure of huge cache of arms and ammunition and arrest of 15 armed cadres of CPI (Maoist) at Akbakitand village, District Giridih, Jharkhand. A case was registered in this regard in March 2018 at Dumri police station. NIA had re-registered the in May 2018 and taken over the investigation of the case.
The NIA Investigation has established that accused Singhrai Soren, an armed cadre of CPI (Maoist), a proscribed terrorist organization, had criminally conspired with other members of CPI (Maoist) with the intention to promote their terrorist activities. He was also regularly harbouring the cadres of CPI (Maoist) at his residential premises and was also instrumental in concealing prohibited arms and ammunition and explosives substances.
The NIA had filed chargesheet against 10 accused persons, including Singhrai Soren, on August 2018 and another Supplementary chargesheet against seen accused persons in January 2019 in the instant case.
A NBW (non bailable warrant) was issued against him. The NIA had also announced a cash reward of Rs.50,000/- for providing information leading to his apprehension.
The agency is further investigating the case.
The arrested accused is being produced before the Special NIA Court, Ranchi.
