NIA takes over Pahalgam terror attack case, examine witnesses and evidences

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe of the Pahalgam terror attack. The Ministry of Home Affairs has transferred the Pahalgam terror attack investigation to federal probe agency.
The NIA probe suggests role of 14 active terrorists in Kashmir, with eight from Lashkar-e-Taiba, three from Jaish-e-Mohammad, and three from Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. The attack victims was carried out by four terrorists armed with AK-47s and M4s, who entered from Shopside and the Zipline area.
The security agencies have also released sketches of three terrorists identified as Pakistani nationals: Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha. The houses of around four terorrists were blown by security forces in the aftermath of the incident.
The NIA is recreating the crime scene with the top investigators and forensic experts. The teams have collected important evidences and questioning the key witnesses.
As soon as NIA officially took over the probe, a team of NIA officers rushed to the crime scene with the support of local police and has maintained a strong presence there ever since. The investigation teams are meticulously inspecting all entry and exit routes in and around Baisaran to piece together the full picture of the attack, they added.
26 people, mostly tourists including one local resident, were killed and more than a dozen others injured in the Pahalgam terror attack which occurred on April 22. This has been one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
