Noida Police arrests an IRS officer for abetment to suicide of his partner

IRS officer, Saurabh Meena had been in a relationship with victim Shilpa Gautam for three years and they were living together

New Delhi, May 28

The Noida Police arrested an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer for abetment to suicide of his live in partner. 

The police received information that a woman had died by suicide in Lotus Boulevard Society in Noida Sector-100. She was identified as Shilpa Gautam who was living together with IRS officer, Saurabh Meena.

Shilpa worked as a deputy manager for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), while Saurabh is a deputy commissioner in the Income Tax Department.The duo had met through a dating app and got into a relationship before they began to live-in together. 

The police stated that Saurabh was present in the apartment at the time of the incident. When the police rushed to the spot, she was found hanging with a noose around her neck. 

The police informed Shilpa's parents, following which they lodged a complaint. The parents claimed Shilpa used to ask Saurabh to marry her, due to which there used to be frequent fights between them and Saurabh used to assault her. 

The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death. The investigators are also scrutinising the mobile phones of both individuals and analysing CCTV footage from the society to piece together the sequence of events leading to Shilpa's death. 

The police stated that the officer has been booked for abetment to suicide and other charges under the IPC.
