Pakistan violates ceasefire, resorts to unprovoked firing in J&K, BSF personnel injured

The BSF gave a befitting response to the same where one BSF personnel sustained injuries in Pakistan firing

New Delhi, September 11

A personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) was injured after Pakistani forces violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu.

The BSF stated that the incident took place in wee hours at around 2.35 am, where Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing in the Akhnoor area from across the border. The BSF gave a befitting response to the same where one BSF personnel sustained injuries. 

The officials said that the Indian troops along the International Border and the LoC have been put on high alert, he added.

The latest ceasefire violation by the Pakistan forces comes when Jammu and Kashmir is preparing to vote for an Assembly election for the first time in 10 years.

The three-phase elections in Jammu and Kashmir are slated to begin on September 18, with the second and third phases to be held on September 25 and October 1, respectively.
