Pune Porche Accident- Grandfather of the accused held for forcing driver to take the blame

The driver was held captive by teen's grandfather Surendra Agrwal and forced to take the blame

New Delhi, May 27

The Pune Porche accident case has turned murkier with the Pune police now arresting the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy who killed two young techies with his speeding Porche. The grandfather Surendra Agrawal whose named had cropped up for having alleged links with Dawood Ibrahim aide Chhota Rajan had held family driver captive forcing him to take all the blame. 

The driver was asked to give a staetment to police that he was driving the car while the teen and his friends were sitting inside. The driver had provided a written statement claiming he was driving the car during the accident. However, after investigation, they found that it was actually the teenager who was behind the wheel.

The driver, Gangadhar, filed a complaint with the police, stating that he was forcibly taken to Surendra Agarwal's (the grandfather's) residence on the night of May 19 after leaving the police station. They took away his phone and kept him confined in their bungalow. During questioning, confessed to police that Agrawal held him captive and forced him to take all the blame. 

According to the driver's complaint, he was pressured to take the blame for the accident. The grandfather has been charged with kidnapping and wrongful confinement. 

Pune CP Amitesh Kumar has also suspended two police personnel on allegations of preferential treatment. 

The CP told media, "The in-charge PI and one other officer have been placed under suspension and departmental proceedings have been initiated for primary lapses in the overall conduct of this preliminary initial phase of the investigation,”
