Punjab police arrests one terrorist of BKI involved in shooting of another terrorist

New Delhi, July 8

The Punjab Police's counterintelligence team have arrested a member of the Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), who was involved in the fatal shooting of former terrorist Rattandeep Singh in April.

Director General of Police Punjab, Gaurav Yadav said that in an intelligence-led operation by the team's Jalandhar unit, Simranjeet Bablu was arrested. Bablu was part of a module that was operated by Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Rinda and US-based Gopi Nawanshahria.

The DGP stated that in an intelligence led operation, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, has apprehended key assailant Simranjeet Bablu, a member of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) involved in the fatal shooting of former terrorist Rattandeep Singh on April 3, 2024 in SBS Nagar

A huge cache of ammunition, including a pistol, was recovered during the arrest, police added. 

As per the case details, Rattandeep Singh (49) a former chief of the militant outfit Bhindranwale Tiger Force of Khalistan (BTFK) was gunned down by two bike-borne men on April 3, 2024. He was reportedly accompanied by his nephew Gurpreet in a car at the time of the attack. Gurpreet had escaped unhurt. The police had found a poster near his body in which Gopi Nawanshahria claimed responsibility for the murder
