The constable identified as Kuljeet, a resident of Rajiana village in Moga had allegedly glorified weapons both through lyrics and visuals in his song ‘Mahakaal’. Kuljeet is posted with patrolling wing of Moga police.

According to the police, Kuldeep uploaded his latest song on November 30 on YouTube where the police saw that he allegedly displayed weapons in the song.

The lyrics of the purported song, ‘Tangi modey te dunaali (I have a double-barrel gun hung on my shoulder); saadey pindan vall karde aa asley di kheti (In our villages, we practise farming of weapons)”.

The police registered and FIR hours after the song was uploaded on You Tube. The same song has been removed from the social media platform.

It is to be noted that on November 26, Punjab DGP had given 72 hours to people to remove content promoting gun culture from their social media profiles, adding that no case would be registered till then.

The DGP had issued the ultimatum a day after state police booked an 11-year-old boy for posing with a toy gun in photograph that his father had uploaded in 2015 when the minor was only four years old.

Earlier, on November 13, the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government banned the public display of firearms as well as songs promoting gun culture and violence. It had also ordered a review of arms licenses within the next three months. Directions were also issued to register FIRs against those making hate speech against any community.
