Punjab Police has busted two ISI-backed terror modules operated by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and arrested 13 people, including one minor. 

The police have seized a large cache of arms and explosives was recovered, including two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), one RPG launcher, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), hand grenades, RDX, pistols, and communication equipment.

The operations were led by DGP Gaurav Yadav, who stated that the modules were being directed by France-based Satnam Singh alias Satta and Greece-based Jaswinder Singh alias Mannu Agwan.

In the first operation, police arrested Jagroop Singh, Jatinder Singh alias Honey, and Harpreet Singh. Preliminary investigation indicates the accused were acting under instructions from Satnam Singh.

In the second operation, nine individuals were held, including a 17-year-old. The other arrested persons were identified as Pawanpreet Singh, Balbir Kumar alias Varun, Gomji alias Gotta, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, Ajaypal Singh, Rahul alias Bhaia, Johanson, and Jatinder.

Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav told media, “The terror modules, sponsored by the Pak-based ISI, were being controlled by BKI, with two key operational nodes- France-based Satnam Singh alias Satta and Greece-based Jaswinder Singh alias Mannu Agwan. He added that their role was earlier also figured in various operations, with accused Satnam’s role came into notice in 2010 in IED and RDX recovery case”. 

The police recovered two IEDs weighing 2.5 kg each, two hand grenades with a detonator, 2 kg of RDX with a remote control device, five pistols including Beretta and Glock, six magazines, 44 cartridges, a wireless communication set, and three vehicles.
