RBI receives bomb threat in Mumbai, police find it as a hoax call

New Delhi, December 28
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Mumbai received a bomb threat via email recently.
The threat also included warnings for HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank.
The email warned of bombs at 11 locations in Mumbai and hinted at a possible blast by 2:15 pm.
The police said the sender was identified as 'Khilafat India', who demanded the resignation of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, alleging a major 'scam' in the country.
The Mumbai Police along with the Anti Terorrist Squad, Bomb Disposal Squad and Dog Squad carried out extensive searches and found it to be a hoax.
The police registered a case at the MRA Marg Police Station.
The Mumbai Police are working closely with RBI officials to ensure the safety of the targeted institutions and enhanced security.
