Seven dead, 11 injured as truck oveturns and rams into a three wheeler in Jabalpur

A heavy vehicle dragged a loading auto for approximately 100 meters before overturning and landing on auto rickshaw : Police

New Delhi, September 19

Seven people, including a 3-year-old child were killed, and 11 others wounded when a truck collided with a an autorickshaw in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district. 

The police have arrested the truck driver from the spot. 

The dead have been identified as Shobharam (35), son of Chotu; Usha Bai (50), wife of Kothari Adivasi; Shivakul (18), son of Rajesh Kol; Kallu Bai (30), wife of Shobharam; Ranu Kol (19), wife of Karan; Karan (20), son of Pardeshi Kol; and little Bhura Kol (3), son of Shobharam Kol, all from Pratappura village. 

The police stated that a heavy vehicle dragged a loading auto for approximately 100 meters before overturning and landing on auto rickshaw. The locals called the police about the accident and rushed to rescue those trapped under the truck.

Expressing grief over the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced financial aid of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the victims from his discretionary grant and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
