New Delhi, October 28

Following a letter alleging sexual harassment of several women police personnel in Haryana allegedly by an IPS officer has gone viral on social media, the  Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) has sought an inquiry report from DGP Haryana on this matter.

A purported letter allegedly signed by seven female cops had surfaced on the social media on Friday. In the letter addressed to Haryana chief minister, serious allegations of sexual harassment were levelled against the IPS officer while terming two female police officials as “facilitator” of the IPS officer.

The Haryana Police deputed IPS officer, Astha Modi, who is currently SP Fatehabad, to conduct a probe and submit a report to the department.

The Haryana Police are already probing the viral letter levying allegations on an IPS officer of Haryana that he sexually harassed multiple women police personnel. The letter reportedly has names of women personnel with details of the respective alleged incidents.

The investigators have recorded statements of 19 female cops who are namesake of the alleged complainants, but “they all have denied their role behind such a letter”. They have denied making any such complaint. They also did not raise any grievance against the IPS officer, officials noted.

The IPS officer who has been accused of sexual harassment had himself requested the Director General of Police to get a probe conducted by a senior female IPS officer.
