SIT exhumes body of student leader Anish Khan for second post mortem

New Delhi, March 1
The Special Investigative Team (SIT) probing the former student leader Anis Khan’s death case exhumed his body for a second autopsy.
The officials added that a team of three doctors will perform the autopsy at the state-run SSKM Hospital. The second autopsy will help the SIT estimate the height and angle at which Anis fell.
The process was done in presence of a district judge in Amta area of Howrah district after the Calcutta HC had ordered the second post-mortem.
Anis Khan (28) died after he allegedly fell from the second floor of his three-storey house in Dakshin Khan Para village around 2 am on February 19. His family had seen four persons enter their house who were in police uniform.
The SIT has already arrested home guard Kashinath Bera and civic police volunteer Pritam Bhattacharya who were on duty at Amta police station on February 19.
The SIT’s two attempts to exhume the body of Khan failed after the locals and villagers protested against them. The protest and objections to exhume his body were withdrawn after Anis’ family gave their consent for the second post-mortem after the High Court order.
The West Bengal Police tweeted saying, “On the direction of the Hon’ble High Court, today members of SIT accompanied by a magistrate went to exhume the body of Anis Khan for holding further PM (post-mortem), which was fiercely prevented in violation of the order of the apex court of WB”.
Anis’ family has been demanding a court monitored CBI investigation into the case.
