SP leader and lawyer Virender Bahadur Pal booked for raping a woman lawyer in UP

The woman alleged that Pal blackmailed her using videos and photos and forced her into a sexual relationship over the past year on regular threats

New Delhi, September 9

The Uttar Pradesh Police have booked former state secretary of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Virender Bahadur Pal, for allegedly raping a female lawyer who worked as his assistant.

Pal, who has held the position of president of the Mau Bar Association twice, is on the run after the FIR was registered.

The complaint was filed on September 7. In her complaint, the woman alleged that Pal blackmailed her using videos and photos and forced her into a sexual relationship over the past year on regular threats. The complainant also had a physical altercation with Pal ago in the court premises on September 6. 

The police stated that a medical examination of the victim has been conducted and her statement was recorded. 

Pal is not only a practising lawyer but also a prominent SP leader. His father, Dayaram Pal, was a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) during the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government and is currently serving as the national secretary of SP, overseeing party activities in Uttarakhand.
