Terror attack continues in J&K- One terrorist neutralized in Kathua, one CRPF personnel dead

J&K is witnessing continuous terror attack since three days following the Reasi bus attack

New Delhi, June 12

In an encounter operation in Kathua district of Jammu, one CRPF personnel was killed with the hiding terrorist. The security foces were carrying out a combing operation after they neutralized a suspected Pakistani terrorist.  

Two senior Jammu and Kashmir Police officers, one DIG rank and another SSP rank, also had a narrow escape on Tuesday after their vehicles came under firing by the terrorists.

The dead terrorist had Rs 1 lakh in Indian currency in his bag. Besides, the items recovered from the slain terrorist included three magazines containing 30 rounds, one magazine having 24 rounds, 75 rounds in a separate polythene bag, three live grenades, eatables (Pakistan-made chocolates, dry chana and stale rotis, medicines and injections, painkillers, one syringe, two packs of A4 batteries, one handset wrapped in tape having antenna and two wires hanging from this handset.

ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain informed that there were two terrorists. They asked for water from some houses. As soon as the information was received, the teams of SHO and SDO reached the spot. One of the terrorists was killed in the exchange of fire. The search operation to nab the second terrorist is underway". 

After the police reached the spot, the firing went on for 20 minutes. One civilian was injured in the firing and given immediate medical aide, police added. 

The Reasi police released a message, “Reasi police announce a reward of ₹20 lakh for any fruitful information about the whereabouts of the terrorist involved in the recent attack on the yatri bus in the area of Pouni.” The sketch was created based on eyewitness descriptions. The police also ruled out any rumours of civilians being hostage by the terrorists. This is the third terror attack in J&K from last three days. On June 9, the terrorist fired at the bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi that killed seven pilgrims and 41 injured as the bus fell in the gorge due to continuous firing by the terrorists. On June 10, the Pakistani terrorist was found hiding in Kathua and he was neutralized when he attacked security forces. 

That was followed by third day of terror attack when the deceased's terrorist's aide was found who was killed in an encounter with the police leading to firing in Hiranagar, known to be otherwise peaceful. The terrorist at the same time attacked Army camp in Doda.
