A 31-year-old post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor was found dead in a semi nude condition inside the government-run RG Kar Hospital.The Kolkata Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), including members of the homicide department, to probe the incident.
The victim, who was a second-year PG student, was found unconscious in the seminar hall of the medical college hospital around 11.30 am. She was later declared dead.
Her body was found in the seminar hall of the Emergency building by fellow students, who then informed us. We are talking to doctors, nurses, and others who were on duty with her last night. Her father has claimed that she was raped and killed inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The detailed autopsy report of the girl showed multiple injuries on her body and rape. The doctors confirmed the girl was raped before being murdered.
One person has been arrested in connection with the case amid protests by junior doctors of the state-run hospital and criticism from the BJP over law and order.
The police stated that the arrested individual had free access to several departments of the hospital. He was arrested after the police reviewed the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, medical students and West Bengal BJP workers protested outside the hospital, demanding proper action in the incident.
