The NIA Special Court Lucknow Uttar Pradesh pronounced judgement and convicted two accused persons in fake Indian currency racket of Hasanganj Lucknow.
The accused were identified as Shiv Bhajan Gupta and Kuldeep Gupta under 489B , 489C and 120B of IPC and sentenced them to four years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 5000/-.
The NIA stated that the case relates to seizure of FICN by STF UP in August 2018 having face value of Rs 4.60 lakhs from the possession of four accused persons namely Shiv Bhajan Gupta, Vivek Rajput alias Gurudev, Kuldeep Gupta and Rajneesh Yadav. An FIR on August 24, 2018 was registered at Hasanganj police station in Lucknow under section 489B & 489C of IPC in the matter. NIA re-registered the case as in September 2018 and took up the investigation.
The NIA investigation has revealed that consignment of FICN, which was recovered from the four accused persons was supplied to them by one Abdul Salam who had procured the same from accused Jiyaul Haq. The aforesaid consignment of FICN was supplied to accused Jiyaul Haq by an accused Gazlu Mia of Bangladesh. After completion of investigation, NIA filed Charge sheets against six accused persons.
In March this year, Vivek Rajput and Rajneesh Yadav were convicted by NIA Special Court, Lucknow and sentenced to four years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 5000/-.
The NIA officials stated that the trial against remaining two charge-sheeted accused continues. The NIA is further investigating the case against the absconding accused Gazlu Mia of Bangladesh.
