UP Police book a man for posting objectionable video of murder accused Muskaan Rastogi and Meerut police official

Instagram account under the name ‘Priyanshu’ posted the misleading video; primary probe shows its an AI generated fake video : Police

New Delhi, March 31

The UP Police in Meerut have booked a man for creating a malicious video of Meerut murder case accused Muskaan Rastogi with a police officer of Meerut police. 

The video was created using artificial intelligence that allegedly shows Muskaan Rastogi and Brahmpuri police station in-charge Ramakant Pachauri in a compromising position. The video was uploaded on social media with malicious intent, and efforts were underway to track down the people responsible.

Karamveer Singh of Brahmpuri police station has filed a complaint stating that an Instagram account under the name ‘Priyanshu’ posted the misleading video. The police added that primary probe shows its an AI generated fake video. 

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the senior sub inspector, an FIR has been against an Instagram user under section 67 of The Information Technology (Amendment) Act. The accused responsible for fabricating and spreading the videos will be arrested soon

Several similar objectionable videos allegedly featuring Muskan and co-accused Sahil Shukla have also surfaced online, including a clip purportedly depicting their involvement in the crime.

Muskaan alngwith her boyfriend Sahil Shukla has murdered Saurabha Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer and stuffed his body in a drum after cutting it into pieces and also attempted to cement it. The incident created a shockwave in the country but also invited a meme fest on social media. 

The police are also looking into such videos on social media platforms where the case labelled as “blue drums” has led to a meme fest and many citizens posting funny videos on the murder case.
