UP Police Dial 112 staff protests on streets for salary, UP Police books them for rioting

The women employees of Dial 112 have bene prtoesting since two days demanding salary hike. The Lucknow Police registered an FIR against them for rioting. 

In the view of the situation, the UP government replaced Additional Director General (UP-112) Ashok Kumar Singh with Neera Rawat.

The women workers, who are communication specialists at UP 112, were expressing their ange over the issue of job loss due to changing outsourcing companies. They said they have been working for the same salary for a long time and have not given appointment letters

As per the case details, the protest by women contractual employees of Dial 112 began on November 6  near its headquarters in Lucknow. On the second day, they tried to block the roads when police allegedly used force to remove them. 

The police stated that the they were staging protests despite prohibitory orders, under section 144 of the CrPC was invoked. The police refuted the claims that force was used to remove them. The protestors were detained for a shotwhile and later released. 

The police have named five persons while booking other 150-200 unidentified women protesters. No one has been arrested so far. 

The police stated that they are identifying the accused through video clips of the incident that are doing the rounds on social media. 

The FIR has been registered under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 283 (danger or obstruction), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant)
