UP STF guns down a wanted gangster of Bihar

Nilesh Rai, who belonged to Bihar's Begusarai district, had 16 cases registered against him including those of murder, loot, and extortion

New Delhi, June 6

The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh gunned down a wanted gangster of Bihar in an encounter in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh,

The encounter was carried out by a joint team of the Special Task Forces (STFs) of Uttar Pradesh. 

Identified as Nilesh Rai, who belonged to Bihar's Begusarai district, had 16 cases registered against him including those of murder, loot, and extortion. 

He was carrying a cash reward of Rs. 2.5 lakhs on his name. 

During the encounter he was severely injured and later sent to a hospital for treatment where he died, the STF stated. 

On February 24, a police team raided Rai's hideout in Begusarai, when he along with his companions opened indiscriminate fire at the police and fled. One person was shot and seriously injured in the incident, officials added.
